What does the term “net salary” mean?

The net salary is the amount of money that you take home after all the taxes and deductions are removed from your full salary. Once that is done, the residual amount is paid to the employee either in cash, bank transfer or on a debit/credit card depending on the situation.

All the deductions are taken from gross pay, and these include things like income tax, national insurance, healthcare insurance, pension deductions, flexible spending account deductions, charitable donation deductions and many others. The deductions and taxes will vary based on your total income.
